Biography
Alla Esipovich was born in Leningrad, graduated from the State Culture and Art institute with a specialization in cultural science and art-examination. Has passed an author’s course of photography of the American photographer Deborah Turbevill and participated in joint exhibition in State History museum of Saint-Petersburg in 2002. Alla Esipovich has won the competition “Se-Zam 2002” for the “Portrait” series in the magazine “SPb Sobaka.ru”, in which she has been the head of photo- department from 2000 until 2004.
2005 — participation in the Portfolio of "Russian Contemporary Photography" for exhibition "Russia", New York, Guggenheim museum.
2003 — personal exhibition in the gallery “First line”, Saint-Petersburg.
2004 (April) — group exhibition “The Beauty of Darkness”, Reflex New Art Gallery, Amsterdam, Holland, where also were presented the photographs of Rodger Ballen, Boris Mikhailov, Noboioshi Araki.
2004 (May) — participation in the forum artfair “Kunstrai”, 2004, Amsterdam, Holland. Presentation with Lauren Greenfield, Noboioshi Araki, Kimiko Ioshida.
2004 (June-Spetember) — group exhibition “Summer show”, Reflex New Art Gallery, Amsterdam, Holland, where also participated Robin Lawie, Irvin Olaf, Rodger Ballen.
2004 (September — October) — participation in the photographic biennale “Photokina-2004”. Mikhael Zaevits gallery, Cologne, Germany.
2004 (October) — personal exhibition “No comment”. Marble Palace, State Russian museum, Ludvig’s museum in Russian Museum, Saint-Petersburg (catalog).
2004 (October) — participation in the 38th international forum of modern art “ART-cologne”, Cologne, Germany. Project of State Russian museum (catalog).
2004 (November) — participation in the exhibition made of the collection of the State Russian museum, “Kandinsky and Russian soul”, Palazzo Forti, Verona, Italy (catalog).
2005 (march) — participation in the 4 th biennale « The Fashion and style in a photography», project «Sandbox», Moscow Museum of Modern Art (catalog).
The photographs of Alla Esipovich are in the collection of the State Russian museum, Saint-Petersburg, in the collection of Museum Contemporary Art, Moscow, and also in private collections in Germany, Holland and USA
