Bethany Bristow is a New York City based installation artist, who takes a multidisciplinary approach to creating her work by utilizing elements of sculpture, performance and photography. Depending on the venue the viewer may see large scale color photographs, site-specific sculptures or even the artist in the act of creating these installations and photographs.

Educated at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Ms. Bristow is a graduate of the diploma and fifth year programs. She was awarded the Clarissa Bartlett Traveling Scholarship in 1995 and an Alumni Traveling Scholarship in 2005. She has also participated in professional development programs with Aljira Contemporary Art Center in Newark, NJ and the Creative Capital Foundation of New York.

Ms. Bristow has exhibited in a variety of venues. Ranging from a DIY group exhibition held in the back of a moving truck to four solo-exhibitions at the Howard Yezerski Gallery in Boston, MA. She has also done installation projects for a number of museums, the Decordova Museum and Sculpture Park in Lincoln, MA, the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art in Ridgefield, CT, and P.S.1/MOMA Contemporary Art Center in Long Island City, NY. Her work will also be exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston in 2007.

Recently Ms. Bristow traveled to Asia, visiting eight countries in two months, while creating her site-specific installations in a variety of urban settings across the region. A short essay on her travels was published on glowlab.com. This coming march she will participate in a two-person exhibition at hpgrp Gallery in New York. She will also have a solo exhibition at Elaine Levy Project in Brussels, Belgium later this year.
